The contracting authority’s OSH overviews typically include the collection, analysis and dissemination of comprehensive information regarding policy, research and practices to support policy makers, researchers and intermediaries to better guide decision making and prioritise resources at policy, research and company level. Through different research projects, an OSH overview contributes to the development and sharing of good practice, both at the level of policy and of workplace intervention. Depending on the focus and scope of the project, they involve literature reviews, case studies, interviews with key informants at policy, research or company level, focus groups, workshops and seminars. This specific OSH overview on CVDs and OSH seeks to improve the prevention of CVDs related to work, the return-to-work (RTW) of workers after a CVD event and the retention at work (RAT) of workers with chronic CVDs. Through the various projects implemented as part of this OSH overview, it aims at investigating the occupational risk factors leading to work-related CVDs, as well as their interplay with non-work-related determinants of CVDs; explore in more depth specific sectors, occupations and worker groups at higher risk; collect data on the burden and underlying causes of work-related CVDs in the EU; identify and assess policies, strategies and programmes, as well as workplace interventions and practices to prevent work-related CVDs, to support the RTW of workers after a CVD or the RAT of workers with chronic CVDs. First findings from the ongoing projects under this OSH overview have consistently identified a critical gap between evidence and practice: while the evidence linking work-related risks to CVD is relatively well established, documented examples of effective workplace-level practices and resources remain scarce. European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA)BilbaoIn 2024 EU-OSHA ran the fourth European Survey of Enterprises on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER 2024) with the aim of providing nationally comparable information on how workplaces across Europe manage health and safety. Substantial analyses of the results of the three previous waves of ESENER, carried out in 2009, 2014 and 2019, have provided a valuable insight into how occupational safety and health (OSH) is managed in practice across Europe; what the main drivers and barriers are; how stress, violence and harassment are managed; the use of digital technologies and its impact on the health and safety of employees ; and how employees are involved. ESENER 2024 has maintained the methodological changes implemented back in 2014 and the questionnaires since then are largely the same too, which enables trend analyses. In each of the three previous waves of ESENER, EU-OSHA published an Overview report of the findings , showing the main results by country, activity sector and size class for the four sections of the survey: OSH management, Psychosocial risk management, Drivers and barriers to OSH, and Worker participation. It is a set of policy initiatives with the overarching aim of making Europe climate neutral by 2050. The "Economics of Climate Change, Energy and Transport" Unit (JRC.C.6) of the Joint Research Centre supports the European Commission’s European Green Deal by performing economics-based research in several areas related to energy and climate change. This work includes the development of a reference toolset of economic models and the completion of associated research activities to improve the models' reliability and robustness. The JRC.C.6 Unit is based in Seville, Spain. JRC.C.6 is seeking to strengthen its socio-economic research and modelling capabilities by expanding its coverage of modelling areas and by updating and improving its existing models and toolsets. The unit JRC.C.6 maintains, develops and applies a number of quantitative tools to analyse the impact of different policies on the energy demand and supply sectors, as well as tools for macro-economic modelling. This toolset comprises the EU and global partial equilibrium models POTEnCIA and POLES including their corresponding databases (notably JRC-IDEES), and the global general equilibrium model JRC-GEM-E3. All these tools are able to provide model output in terms of CO2 emissions. The comprehensive modelling of climate change mitigation scenarios requires additional information as regards non-CO2 greenhouse gas emissions as well as on emissions and sinks related to land use, land use change and forestry offsets (LULUCF). Sept.The project "Social Protection and Inclusion for Refugees and Host Communities in Jordan" (SPIRIT), is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (November 2025 - October 2028). SPIRIT"s objective is to improve access to high-quality social protection services in Jordan for refugees and members of host communities with disabilities and their families, respectively. The main political partner of the SPIRIT project is the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) of Jordan; the Higher Council for Persons with Disabilities (HCD) of Jordan is a key implementing partner. The key target group of the project are refugees with disabilities and members of host communities with disabilities and their families in Jordan, respectively. Mediators are social workers and MoSD personnel at the local level as well as technical staff and managers of the MoSD, the HCD and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs). The project will work on four output areas. Output 1 aims to improve procedural requirements for the recognition of disabilities for both refugees and members of host communities. This includes supporting a test phase of the reformed procedure as well as its digital integration. The aim of Output 2 is to strengthen physical and digital referral mechanisms for people with disabilities. This includes the training of relevant staff in the application of standardised referral mechanisms as well as the provision of disability-specific services. Output 3 aims to strengthen decentralised MoSD institutions in Amman Governorate so that they can independently and systematically offer social services to support a self-determined life for people with disabilities and their relatives; particular attention is given to the needs of women and girls. Sept.The ESPAD project (European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs) is an international project that collects data every four years in over 35 European countries on the use of alcohol, tobacco, medicines, illicit drugs, and other addictive behaviours, and possible correlates with such behaviours, among 15–16-year-old school students through probabilistic school surveys. The project started in 1995, and the next data collection is planned for 2028. Since ESPAD is a unique source of internationally comparable and trend information about prevalence and patterns of addictive behaviours among school population in Europe that has been proven informative for researchers, policy-makers, and other stakeholders, and it increasingly provides evidence for evaluation of national and European drug policies, EUDA has a strong interest in maintaining high quality and comparability of the research process and study outputs. The EUDA is committed to giving support to the international coordination of the project and actively participating in its coordination. Aug.All services contribute to achieve the project objectives of STREAM+ (Output 4 of SPACES II) and comprise four work packages (WP): WP 1 concentrates on mainstreaming, institutionalisation, capacity building and implementation of/for climate-resilient, sustainable and inclusive forest management (SFM+) at the local and strategic-political level, with the following main activities as i) multi-stakeholder workshops to identify solutions for climate-resilient forest use and to strengthen the role of Forest User Groups in SFM+, ii) elaboration and testing of a vertical structure concept of NFA and iii) technical advice on selected forestry policy instruments and for reporting on forest management planning, implementation and monitoring (FMPIM). Selected main results are improved legislation and policies and FMPIM reports. WP2 provides capacity building of NFA, local forest administration, PFE, FUG in planning, implementation and monitoring of SFM+ with the main activities i) advice territorial plan development working groups at local level, ii) elaborate a climate risk study related to forest management, iii) execute a gap analysis on needs of digital precision technologies, iv) improve fire management structures and approaches, v) update planning and inventory methods, v) support the development of SFM+ plans, vi) capacity building on local level regarding silviculture, improved fire management, remote sensing tools, and vii) analyse and recommend relevant actors on basic forest economic data. Selected main results are 15 elaborated and partly implemented plans for SFM+, 2.105.931 ha of forests under sustainable management and 7 local territorial development plans incorporating SFM+ principles. WP 3.a aims on strengthening sustainable inclusive forest-based value chains (VC) with Forest User Groups (FUG) and Micro-, Small- and Medium Enterprises (MSME). The focus is on timber forest products (TFP) from thinning and dead wood as well as non-timber forest products (NTFP). Main activities are i) multi-stakeholder roundtables on VC, ii) elaborate training material and conduct trainings on VC, iii) conduct studies on market opportunities, limitations, feasibilities, iv) advice national partners on the mentioned topics and v) develop recommendations for related policy instruments. Main results are a certain number of studies, capacity building measures and reinforced forestry-related VC. WP 3.b focuses on strengthening entrepreneurial and networking capacities of FUG and MSME with regard to formal markets, adding value and achieving a positive return on sustainable forest management that improves forest health and climate resilience. If feasible, synergies with national business incubator service providers and TVET shall be fostered. Main activities are i) support to selected FUG to become private entities to implement SFM+ activities, ii) a capacity-building needs assessment and relevant training for incubator service providers, iii) capacity building to FUG and MSME regarding organisational and entrepreneurial capacities, building strategic partnerships, business plans, product development, work safety and traceability systems. The contracting authority shall revise the seriousness requirements in 2026, which can lead to changes in the municipality ́s follow-up need. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbHEschbornShort Project Description: Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) NESP is currently in its third phase (June 2023 - May 2027) and still funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The programme is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in collaboration with Nigeria"s Federal Ministry of Power. Its core objective is to foster investments in domestic renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) markets while improving electricity access for disadvantaged, mostly rural communities, including those in conflict-affected areas. Background With a fast-growing population now estimated at 227 million, Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa. With only 60% of Nigeria"s population connected to the main grid, the rest remains unconnected. Power supply shortages do not only affect the living standards of Nigerians, but also the competitiveness of Nigeria"s businesses and industries. In most cases, Nigerians resort to expensive and polluting captive diesel generation to satisfy their power needs. As a result, Nigeria has become one of the largest markets for diesel generators in the world. With its huge natural and fossil resources, Nigeria is Africa's energy giant and energy exports are essential for the Nigerian economy transition. However, due to the destabilisation of oil prices there is an increasing interest by Nigeria to accelerate the energy transition by increasing investments in sustainable energy. The Energy Transition Plan (ETP) that was adopted in February 2022 provides an ambitious, long-term strategy for the energy transition. It builds on the Sustainable Energy for ALL (SEforALL) Action Agenda and its Vision 30:30:30, setting the target to increase power generation capacity to 30 gigawatts (GW) and the RE share in the electricity mix to 30% until 2030. Important climate policy documents, particularly the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and the National Policy on Climate Change, have been updated to show a higher level of ambition. Despite reforms in the past decade, Nigeria"s energy sector still faces significant challenges. On-grid generation is limited by weak transmission infrastructure, while the distribution side suffers from DisCos" liquidity crises and high technical and commercial losses. Electricity demand is estimated at 30,000 MW, compared to an average peak generation of 5,000 MW. To address these gaps, the Nigerian government passed the Electricity Act, 2023, repealing the Electric Power Sector Reforms Act, 2005. The Act decentralises the electricity market, empowering state governments to establish State Electricity Markets (SEMs). It prioritises RE deployment and aims to attract private investment into the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI). Several states are already setting up SEMs, but most lack the tools, skills, and resources to implement them effectively. Therefore, NESP is providing targeted technical support that will focus on the following key output indicators: On-grid (Premium Grids) Output indicators: 1. Identification and mapping of suitable areas for premium grid projects in cooperation with DisCos 2. Promote awareness and experiences with an implemented premium grid project with RE generation component 3. Support to DisCos to develop and implement economically sound business models and project implementation plans, network analysis and develop contractual documents Framework (Energy Transition Policy and State Electricity Market support) 1. new or improved laws, regulations or instrumetns to acheive the energy policy goals prioritised in the Nigerian Energy transition plan (e.g, energy access, renewable energy 2. Support 5 states on their respective State Electiricty Market through the development of policies, laws, or instruments to advance RE investment. Tasks of the contractor: Work package 1: Premium Grids (On-grid) This work package aims to support DisCos in identifying and mapping suitable sites for premium grids which include the use of NESP developed data-based tools as well as selecting and cooperating with RE developers for their implementation. The following activities are planned under this work package: 1. Development of pre-feasibility studies and support with tenders for premium grid projects 2. Technical assessment and analysis of identified premium grid projects. 3. Legal and transactional support for premium grid projects 4. Technical supervision and advisory services on project execution in the field. Work Package 2: Framework and Policy Development Support This work package aims to provide support for adaptive, flexible, demand-driven policy and regulatory framework development for selected subsectors covered by the ETP, with regards to EE and RE. The following activities are planned under this work package: 1. Technical support to NERC, State governments, NEMSA on the development of regulatory and investment framework to support RE and grid connected RE projects in Nigeria 2. Development of training materials and capacity building for the selected government partners.
