Die BfG beherbergt die „Gewässerkundliche Zentralbibliothek“ des Bundes (GWZB). Als wissenschaftliche Spezialbibliothek versorgt sie die Einrichtungen des Bundes und der Länder mit Fachliteratur und Informationen. Die GWZB benötigt für die Beschäftigten der BfG und externe Nutzende einen Discovery Service (DS), mit dem die Bestände der GWZB, und externe thematisch relevante Datenbanken in einem um-fassenden zentralen Suchmaschinenindex durchsucht werden können. Der DS muss als Cloud-Dienst im Modell Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) vom AN bereitgestellt werden.
