Sligo County Council, through its Active Travel Section, intends to deliver the Cleveragh Active Travel Scheme to improve sustainable transport infrastructure, road safety, accessibility and connectivity along Cleveragh Drive, Sligo. The Scheme comprises the provision of active travel infrastructure along approximately 1.0km of Cleveragh Drive (L-9208), extending from the junction with Pearse Road (R287) to the vicinity of Cleveragh Park and the Regional Sports Complex. The primary objective of the Scheme is to provide a safe, attractive and accessible environment for pedestrians and cyclists of all ages and abilities, while improving connectivity between residential areas, recreational facilities, educational facilities, sporting amenities and the wider Active Travel network within Sligo Town.

The council’s objective is to augment the existing 40km network into a seamlessly connected 314km network spanning the entire city. The Dodder Greenway Milltown Road - Dodder walk to Dundrum Road Active Travel Scheme is one of the projects identified under this initiative. The Dodder Greenway Milltown Road - Dodder walk to Dundrum Road Active Travel Scheme extends along Milltown Road between Dodder walk and Dundrum Road for a length of 1.2km. The Scheme includes the provision of segregated cycle facilities, improved pedestrian facilities (footpath and junction upgrades), ducting, resurfacing etc. the scheme also includes the upgrade of two signal-controlled junctions to improve pedestrian and cyclist facilities, the two junctions are: Milltown Rd and Churchtown Rd junction and Milltown Rd and Dundrum Rd junction.
