Der Weiterbetrieb dieser Technik ist mit einem erhöhten Instandhaltungsaufwand verbunden und aufgrund der zunehmend eingeschränkten Verfügbarkeit von Ersatzteilen langfristig nicht mehr sicherzustellen. Es wurde eine Teilerneuerungsmaßnahme (Ersatz durch eine neuwertigere Bauform) der Stellwerkstechnik (Innenanlage) des ESTW-A Neukölln beschlossen.
