Wexford County Council intend to undertake works to pedestrianise Quay Street, New Ross. The site is located between the R723 to the west and the junction of Mary Street and the R700 to the east. to the south of the site the Dunbrody Famine ship tourist attraction is located. the Tholsel building is located on Quay Street which is the Council hub for the area. General description of the works - The proposed works consist of upgrade works to the area through the installation of new surface finishes, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the street scape. In addition, new site fittings and street furniture will be installed to create a welcoming environment for public gatherings, events, and social interaction. The works include but are not limited to new paving finishes and minor drainage alterations on Quay Street designating it as a pedestrian- only area, and the planting of new trees and shrubbery to enhance green space and visual appeal. Electrical works are described within the specification for electrical works.

It is proposed to have the prefabricated building demolished and the site reinstated as part of the proposed works when the new naíonra is operational. The proposed building is expected to have a floor area of approximately 200 square metres and shall, as a minimum contain two naíonra classrooms/activity rooms, each with two toilets suitable for children aged between 2 and 5 years of age, one accessible toilet, an office with a doorway which is independent of the doorways to the classrooms, storage facilities within each classroom, a cleaners room and plant room. Naíonra Philib Barún intend, as part of this procurement process, to engage the services of a Single Point Design Team for the design, contractor procurement, construction management and supervision, and certification of the proposed new naíonra and associated works. Applications for funding for the design/supervision team fees, site investigation works and the construction works will be made to An Roinn Forbartha Tuaithe, Pobail agus Gaeltachta by Naíonra Philib Barún as appropriate throughout the lifecycle of the project.
