BAAINBwKoblenzIm PEGASUS Luftsegment sind zwei Funkgerät Collins AR-1500 verbaut. Diese können nicht verschlüsselt funken. Um eine Verschlüsselung auf "GEHEIM"und "NATO SECRET" zu erreichen sind zusätzlich Kryptogeräte vom Typ Rohde und Schwarz Elcrodat 4-2 (ED 4-2) vorgesehen. Das ED4-2 nutzt einen Verschlüsselungsalgorithmus, der absehbar ausläuft und nicht mehr aktuell ist. Das genaue Datum, zu dem der Schlüssel deaktiviert wird, ist GEHEIM eingestuft. Das ED4-2 wird mit dem Auslaufen des Schlüssels obsolet. Daher ist das Nachfolgegerät Rohde und Schwarz Elcrodat 7 MC jeweils zu verbauen und das alte Gerät auszutauschen. Das ED-7 der Firma R&S ist grundsätzlich luftfahrttechnisch zulassbar, es fehlen aktuell noch wenige Tests, die nicht Gegenstand dieses Vertrages sind. Das Gerät ist als Teil der Gesamtzulassung PEGASUS im DEMAR-Raum zuzulassen. Die Geräte werden im Rahmen des Projekts Kryptomodernisierung Bw durch BAAINBw I5.5 beschafft und den Projekten zur Verfügung gestellt.
