Der Auftrag unterstützt die Umsetzung des AIDRA-Projekts (Artificial Intelligence In-orbit Data pRocessing Assessment), einer Kooperation des EU-Satellitenzentrums (SatCen) und der Europäischen Verteidigungsagentur (EDA). AIDRA prüft als Proof-of-Concept Machbarkeit, Rückverfolgbarkeit, operative Auswirkungen und Governance von KI-gestützter Borddatenverarbeitung (AI-OBDP) zur Unterstützung von Erdbeobachtungs- und Geodaten-Workflows. Die Demonstration bewertet unter weltraumrepräsentativen Bedingungen, wie KI-gestützte Bordverarbeitungs- und Tasking-Funktionen in einer End-to-End-Erdbeobachtungsdatenkette abschneiden (technisches Verhalten, Systemleistung, Interaktion mit GEOINT-Anforderungen). Ziel ist die strukturierte Beweisführung für institutionelle Bewertungen, kein operativer Einsatz.
