The site currently comprises a 1970's structure which is in operational use presently as a library, and a 1930's protected structure. The proposed development consists of the repair, refurbishment and fabric upgrade to the existing 1930's protected structure and the construction of a new three storey building to its south. The works will require the demolition and removal of the 1970's structure, which currently adjoins the protected structure to the south east. The protected structure originally served as the county library and is to be preserved due to its social and historical significance.
