The current denominations of banknotes are 50 kroner, 100 kroner, 200 kroner and 500 kroner. In a strategic move announced during a press conference on November 30 2023, Danmarks Nationalbank revealed its initiatives to ensure the continued relevance of cash in Denmark, and it was decided that the latest 1000-krone banknote and several older banknotes would no longer be legal tender after 31 May 2025.
