Acute Hospitals Mid-West (AHMW), part of the Health Service Executive (HSE), intends to procure targeted outsourced Medical Physics Expert (MPE) and Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) services to supplement existing internal capabilities. This service will apply to University Hospital Limerick, University Maternity Hospital Limerick, Croom Orthopaedic Hospital, Ennis General Hospital, Nenagh General Hospital and St. John’s Hospital. The scope of outsourcing is limited to specific elements of Medical Physics and Radiation Protection services where in-house capacity, specialist expertise, or regulatory requirements necessitate external support. The requirement arises from the need to ensure ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations associated with ionising radiation particularly SI 256 (2018) and SI 30 (2019)). AHMW intends to structure this procurement into multiple lots in order to facilitate market participation and ensure service resilience. Tenderers may bid for any combination of lots.

There will also be extensive re-planning, upgrade works and reconfiguration of the existing district hospital female wing including physiotherapy area within the single storey and the two-storey central building structure, to provide commercial production kitchen with ancillary support rooms, physiotherapy area, laundry, staff changing and Day-care Services, etc; to complete the interface works with new the 75-bed CNU unit on site. JuniSVUH has recognised the need to improve access to cardiac diagnostics at the primary care level, in line with national policy recommendations supporting GP direct referral to echocardiography. This initiative aligns with the HSE’s strategic objectives under Sláintecare to shift appropriate care from acute hospital settings to community-based services, thereby improving patient outcomes and reducing waiting times. Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) applied to cardiac ultrasound imaging present a significant opportunity to enhance access to diagnostic-quality imaging for a greater proportion of the population. This will empower GPs and their patients to proactively assess heart health and assist in ensuring all patients are facilitated in early identification and treatment of established or emerging heart disease. Under appropriate clinical guidance and governance, this has the potential to shift the model of delivery of cardiovascular care to a proactive model, where emerging problems are identified and treated at an earlier stage than has previously been feasible. The purpose of this procurement is to appoint a single service provider to deliver a comprehensive, end-to-end managed service that encompasses all aspects of service delivery, including facilities, staffing, equipment, handling software and AI-enabled software, referral and IT infrastructure, clinical governance, and reporting. The service will enable GPs to refer patients directly for AI-assisted cardiac ultrasound, with results reported back to the referring clinician in a timely and secure manner. The managed service may be handed over to HSE authorities following the end of the term of any contract resulting from this CfT. The Contracting Authority has internally documented the budget for any expenditure on the Services to be covered by the proposed Service Contract to amount to some EUR 667,621.48 (excl. Health Service Executive (HSE)KildareThe objective of this Voluntary Ex Ante Transparency (VEAT) notice is to inform the marketplace of HSE West & North West’s intention to enter into a contract for the provision of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans for Galway University Hospital (GUH) to support specialised cardiology diagnostics in Galway City. GUH currently does not possess the MRI1 capacity or clinical resources required to deliver Cardiac MRI services on site. As a result, there is a requirement to secure access to a suitably qualified ex-ternal provider located within close proximity to Galway City to ensure timely, efficient, and patient-centred service delivery. Cardiac MRI is widely recognised as the non-invasive imaging modality for the comprehensive assessment of cardiac structure, function, tissue characterisation, myocardial viability, cardiomyopathies, congenital heart disease, inflammatory cardiac conditions, and complex cardiovascular disorders. The availability of this service is essential to support accurate diagnosis, guide treatment planning, assist in risk stratification, and monitor disease progression, thereby contributing directly to improved patient outcomes and enhanced quality of care. The provision of Cardiac MRI scans are to be provided at the Galway Clinic Doughiska Unlimited Company, Doughiska, Galway, H91 HHTO. The proximity of the provider to Galway City is a key requirement to support timely and equitable access for patients. Many patients requiring Cardiac MRI investigations have significant cardiovascular disease, reduced mobility, or complex clinical needs. Access to a local or nearby service minimises travel burden, reduces delays in diagnosis, improves patient experience, and supports continuity of care. Furthermore, a geographically accessible service facilitates more efficient referral pathways, enables urgent and clinically time-sensitive cases to be accommodated promptly, and reduces the operational impact associated with longer-distance patient transfers.
