It is the central site for Switzerland’s large-scale research facilities. As part of the ETH Domain, PSI is a key pillar of the Swiss research landscape and conducts cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation, and fundamental research in natural sciences. Estia is a neutron reflectometer being built at the European Spallation Source (ESS) as Swiss in-kind contribution delivered by PSI. A central element of the instrument is the so-called Selene Neutron Guide, a Montel-type optics consisting of two sets of two elliptical mirrors (horizontal+vertical) that project a virtual source slit onto the sample. The mirrors are 7.2m long and consist of 2x15 segments, each, that are mounted on kinematic adjusters fixed to a large carrier within a vacuum vessel. The mirrors are coated with neutron super-mirror multilayer coating of Ni/Ti that PSI can deposit in-house. A detailed description of the project can be found in the separate appendix. We would like to thank all participants for taking part in this RFI. There is also the option of holding a personal meeting as part of the RFI process.
