The chimney is approximately 52 metres in height and forms part of the former Ballymun District Heating Scheme, now located within the Rediscovery Centre campus. Detailed structural investigations, condition surveys, material testing and defect mapping have been completed. The Contract relates to the execution of the recommended repair solution and associated refurbishment works. Tenderers are not required to undertake structural assessments or determine the repair strategy. The Works shall include, but not be limited to: • Design, supply, installation and removal of all temporary works, mast climbers, access platforms, hoists, fall arrest systems and rescue arrangements required to safely execute the works at height. • Localised reinforced concrete repairs to identified areas of cracking, spalling, delamination, honeycombing and failed historic repairs. • Cleaning, treatment and reinstatement of exposed reinforcement where required. • Installation of localised galvanic cathodic protection (incipient anode protection) around repair areas. • Application of reprofiling mortars and fairing coats to prepare concrete surfaces. • Application of a high-performance anti-carbonation protective coating system to the full external surface of the chimney. • Removal and reinstatement of the lightning protection system as required to facilitate repairs. • Repair, refurbishment or replacement of steel cover plates over duct entry points including associated fixings. • Provision and installation of permanent capping systems to the chimney flues. • Removal of any asbestos-containing materials, where identified and required, in accordance with statutory requirements (unless they are deemed safe to leave and manage in place). • Removal of pest infestations, nesting maView CfT Workspace
Atlantic Technological UniversityDeadline: Aug 24Atlantic Technological University (ATU) is seeking suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake an energy retrofit project at its Galway City Dublin Road Campus. The project comprises the retrofit of approximately 4,425m² of the original 1972 building and forms part of the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) funded Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation Pathfinder Project (EEDPP2). The works include building fabric upgrades, roof and window replacement, ventilation improvements, lighting and controls upgrades, and the installation of a medium-temperature air-source heat pump, with existing gas boilers retained for peak demand and backup. The project aims to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, extend the building's operational life, enhance occupant comfort, increase the use of renewable technologies, and achieve a minimum B1 BER rating. The existing building is a reinforced concrete framed structure currently served by the campus central heating system and a combination of natural and mechanical ventilation systems.
