RFQ/GRACE/2608/45 - Procurement of 400 Nos of Tested Ballistic Protective Aprons RFQ/GRACE/2608/45 – Supply and Delivery of Personal Protective Equipment – Tested Ballistic Protective Apron for Humanitarian Demining Operations Sri Lanka’s Northern and Eastern Provinces remain affected by landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) contamination, posing continued risks to communities, livelihoods, and recovery processes in post-conflict areas. Under the National Mine Action Completion Strategy (2023–2027), the National Mine Action Centre (NMAC), with support from UNDP, is working toward achieving a mine-free Sri Lanka by 2028; however, newly identified hazardous areas, complex terrain, funding constraints, and climate-related disruptions such as flooding and soil erosion have increased operational challenges and safety risks for deminers. Women constitute a significant share of the demining workforce and play a vital role in sustaining operations, yet they often work in physically demanding and high-risk environments where improved, gender-responsive technologies and safer operational systems are critically needed.As an essential component of this initiative, the procurement process will focus on the Procurement of 400 Nos. of Tested Ballistic Protective Aprons.
