The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) invites qualified national and international architectural and engineering firms, including eligible joint ventures and consortia, to apply for prequalification for the provision of architectural, engineering and works management services for the redevelopment of the Adriatico Science Complex at 9 Via Grignano, Trieste, Italy. The assignment may include preliminary design, executive design, permitting support, multidisciplinary coordination and works management, including the role of Director of Works. Applications will first be reviewed against the minimum eligibility and qualification requirements on a pass/fail basis. Compliant applications will then be scored and ranked. At least five of the highest-ranked prequalified applicants are expected to be invited to participate in a subsequent restricted Request for Proposal. Interested applicants may request a Project Information Presentation containing additional background and technical information on the Adriatico Science Complex. Applicants intending to submit an application may also request editable versions of the application forms by contacting [email protected] and quoting reference 26-13-EOI-AGH-RENO. Requests for clarification must be submitted exclusively to [email protected] by 7 September 2026. Complete prequalification applications must be submitted exclusively by secure email to [email protected] no later than 30 September 2026 at 15:00, local time in Trieste, Italy (CEST, UTC+02:00). The structure comprises a two-storey masonry section housing the Learning Centre and cafeteria, a single-storey masonry section containing the kitchen facilities, and an adjoining single-storey section with wooden roof structure serving the cafeteria. The scope of work encompasses the comprehensive external refurbishment of the building, including all activities required for the preparation, execution, completion and handover of the works. The services to be provided shall include, but not be limited to, the following: 1. Parapet and facade finishing works (visual inspection of surfaces, minor repairs, smoothing/levelling and painting); 2. Dehumidifying plaster works on the cafeteria façade; 3. Wooden roof waterproofing refurbishment works, including gutters and flashings; 4. Concrete roof waterproofing refurbishment works on the kitchen, including parapet coping; 5. Concrete perimeter apron along the north cafeteria façade; 6. Repair of the rainwater drainage network and replacement of the Air Conditioning (AC) condensate drainage network; 7. Non-invasive structural assessment of the wooden roof structure. The works shall comprehensively address all identified structural, architectural, and safety deficiencies, with the objective of restoring the building to a safe, functional, and fully operational condition.
