Das Gerät muss zuverlässig und reproduzierbar Ultradünnschnitte in Serie mit bis zu 50 nm Dicke und darunter erstellen können. Es ist ein Schwerkraft-basiertes Schneidprinzip erforderlich, das vibrationsarme und hochpräzise Schnitte ermöglicht. Die Schnittqualität muss im Bereich von 1 nm bis 10-15 µm liegen, mit gleichbleibender Schnittfeinheit und Schonung der Probenstruktur. Der Probenvorschub muss im Bereich von 0 bis 2500 nm frei wählbar sein.
