PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. It is the central site for Switzerland’s large-scale research facilities. As part of the ETH Domain, PSI is a key pillar of the Swiss research landscape and conducts cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation, and fundamental research in natural sciences. Estia is a neutron reflectometer being built at the European Spallation Source (ESS) as Swiss in-kind contribution delivered by PSI. A central element of the instrument is the so-called Selene Neutron Guide, a Montel-type optics consisting of two sets of two elliptical mirrors (horizontal+vertical) that project a virtual source slit onto the sample. The mirrors are 7.2m long and consist of 2x15 segments, each, that are mounted on kinematic adjusters fixed to a large carrier within a vacuum vessel. The mirrors are coated with neutron super-mirror multilayer coating of Ni/Ti that PSI can deposit in-house. A detailed description of the project can be found in the separate appendix. We would like to thank all participants for taking part in this RFI. There is also the option of holding a personal meeting as part of the RFI process.

Empa zentraler EinkaufDübendorfThe pyrolysis of biogenic materials is a vast field of research. In addition to biochar, pyrolysis of biogenic materials also produces oils and gases. The pyrolysis products open up new possibilities for CO2-neutral and CO2-negative materials as well as CO2-neutral energy sources. In order to research the possibilities of pyrolysis of biogenic materials, we need to be able to produce large enough quantities at different pyrolysis parameters. Unfortunately, the pyrolysis methods and production quantities are severely limited by the existing equipment. The new plant is intended to expand the possibilities in terms of production quantities and production methods as well pyrolysis parameters for biochar. A key point here is that the pyrolysis plant should be able to handle the widest possible range of source materials.Pyrolysis Equipment

The objective of this Request for Information (RFI) is to obtain insight into the market's tenders and development, including how SOC services are designed, provided and priced. The contracting authority would also like input on how appropriate requirements, award criteria, contract terms and commercial models can be designed in a future competition. The received information can be used as a decision basis and as a support in the further work on procurement strategy and design of the tender documentation. The contracting authority would like open and reflected input from the market. All questions are not expected to be answered in full, and tenderers are encouraged to respond to the topics they find most relevant. Supplementary inputs, experiences, considerations and proposals – also beyond the stated questions – will be received with interest. The contracting authority is particularly interested in identifying developments, solution alternatives, innovation and other conditions in the market that it can be challenging to uncover through traditional information acquisition. Tenderers are therefore encouraged to share perspectives and experiences that can contribute to increased insight and a better basis for any future procurement. The contracting authority reserves the right to invite one or more tenderers to follow-up dialogue meetings or presentations in order to deepen the submitted responses and gather further insight. Any such dialogue meetings will be included as a part of the market dialogue and are not binding for either the contracting authority or the suppliers. Submitted answers are not binding. The contracting authority will treat all input and information received through the RFI confidentially to the extent that the current regulations allow it. Information shared in the market dialogue will not be made available for other suppliers, and the contracting authority will not forward supplier specific information, business secrets or other tender sensitive information that is exempt from public disclosure. Participation in this RFI, or any subsequent dialogue meetings, is not a prerequisite for participation in any later competition. The contracting authority requests that replies to this RFI are uploaded as an annex. The questions that are requested are described in the attached document.
