Gegenstand des Auftrags ist die wissenschaftlich-analytische und ökonomische Untersuchung der Potenziale für die Abscheidung, den Transport und die stoffliche Nutzung von Kohlenstoffdioxid (CCU) im Saarland sowie der grenzüberschreitenden Großregion. Ziel ist es, der Landesregierung fundierte Entscheidungsgrundlagen zu konkreten CO₂-Nutzungspfade und strategische Handlungsempfehlungen an die Hand zu geben, um schwer vermeidbare Industrieemissionen effektiv zu mindern und in eine nachhaltige Kreislaufwirtschaft zu überführen.
