Construction eats the summer slowdown
Summer lull? It has yet to appear in the procurement data. Between 1 and 25 July, 58,361 notices were published. The same period in June produced 52,603. That is an increase of 10.9 percent.
July also beats the year's previous high at the same cut-off. By 25 April, 53,708 notices had appeared, 4,653 fewer than in July. Five calendar days fall after the cut-off, so this is not a claim about the final monthly record. It is the strongest first 25 days of any month in 2026.
Awards are not the only source of growth
Open opportunities rose from 31,588 to 35,195 documents, an increase of 11.4 percent. Award notices climbed from 18,441 to 20,114 (+9.1 percent). Prior information notices grew fastest: 2,760 compared with 2,268 in the reference period, a rise of 21.7 percent.
The increase is therefore not confined to retrospective information about contracts already awarded. Published market opportunities and planned procurements are both materially higher.
Construction picks up the pace
17,285 July notices carried at least one construction classification. There were 15,263 between 1 and 25 June, an increase of 13.2 percent.
Electrical installation leads again with 2,727 notices (+17.4 percent). It is followed by architecture at 1,915 (+33.4 percent), road construction at 1,795 (+28.6 percent), and windows and doors at 1,791 (+32.3 percent). The increase runs from planning work through to individual trades.
Topic coverage is not complete. 69.3 percent of July documents carry at least one topic classification, compared with 66.1 percent in the June reference period. Some of the increase may therefore come from improved classification. Absolute figures always refer to the documents that were actually classified, and one notice can carry several topics.
Saxony accelerates while Berlin brakes
2,757 July notices named a place of performance in Saxony. The same June period had 1,741, an increase of 58.4 percent. Berlin moved in the other direction: 1,840 after 1,977, a fall of 6.9 percent.
This is not a performance ranking of the states. 34,331 of the 58,361 July documents can be attributed to at least one German state, giving coverage of 58.8 percent. A notice naming places of performance in several states counts once in each of them.
School-transport notices double
The clearest seasonal jump comes from school transport: 518 notices compared with 253 in the same June period. That is an increase of 104.7 percent. School transport, at least, shows no summer slowdown.
Methodology and limits
The figures are a historical snapshot taken on 26 July 2026 and cover publications from 1 through 25 July. Comparisons use the same calendar period in June. Month boundaries and publication days are read in the Europe/Berlin time zone.
The analysis counts notice documents, not procedures or contract values. Missing topic and location data are not estimated. Topics and places of performance can overlap. The snapshot remains unchanged even if additional documents carrying a July publication date enter the corpus later.
